Independent Scottish singer-songwriter emaé (pronounced em-may) is a feel good mix of soul-pop. emaé released her debut single, ‘Something Beautiful,’ to critical acclaim in the UK/US/Japan. MTV The Alternative Wrap Up praised the record that ‘oozes confidence, honesty and a relatability that is rare for newcomers.’ Soulbounce USA noting its ‘luscious vocals’ and ‘sweet harmonies.’

A qualified pharmacist, emaé then released its cinematic music video, directed by Lee Jones (Jessie J, Tinie Tempah, Rita Ora) and shot by Sam Pearce (Kate Nash, Rizzle Kicks). Shortly after, VEVO gave the video a front page highlight.

emaé’s second single ‘Know You,’ made British singer-songwriter and veteran BBC radio presenter Tom Robinson’s Fresh Faves, on BBC 6 Music before England footballer Rio Ferdinand’s magazine 5mag praised her for forging ‘her own lane in today’s British music landscape.’

Discovered by musical director and bassist Oroh Angiama (Corrine Bailey Rae, Tom Jones, Warner, Atlantic Records) and music business consultant Guy Morris (Tunecore, Kartel Music Ltd, Blue Mountain Music). emaé held her debut headline in late 2015 at award winning music venue The Green Note (Amy Winehouse, Ed Sheeran, Michael Kiwanuka). With notable musicians on the line up including percussionist Oli Savill (Bassment Jaxx, Shakira, Annie Lennox).

Off the momentum of her sold out headline, emaé released her acoustic EP Imperfect Words, premiered by AFROPUNK. After which, she supported US artist Adia Victoria, the indie rock standout playing her debut British headline, fresh from The Stephen Colbert Show.

Recently, emaé was nominated by Gospel Touch Music for the 2016 Critics Choice awards and also made the final of #roadtothe100club dubbed one of the best original acts in the UK in conjunction with PRS Music and Island Records.

Moving away from the acoustic sound, emaé is currently recording her debut album. Poised for release in 2017, fans can expect an exciting mix of her honest, life-weathered songwriting and roaming melodies fleshed out by full studio production.
